1. Have a compatible TV
Sony TVs with an Android operating system are compatible with YouView. Have a look on the Sony site for more information.
Before you buy anything, check if the TV is YouView compatible with the retailer.
2. Google Account
On some newer models, in order to access YouView you will need to sign into your Google Account.
To do so:
On the Home screen, go to Settings > Accounts & Sign In.
3. Software Update
To get YouView you’ll need to have the latest System Software. Make sure you are connected to the Internet then download the latest System Software. To do this, follow these instructions:
Standard Remote
- Press the HELP button
- Scroll down and select System Software Update
- Choose Check for a system software update. If an update is available your TV will start to download it.
Touchpad Remote
- Press the HOME button
- Scroll down to the Settings section and choose Help
- Scroll down and select System Software Update
- Choose Check for a system software update. If an update is available your TV will start to download it.
4. Launch Live TV & Catch Up
You may be asked to Update the app to use all of YouView’s features.
To do so:
Open the Main Menu > navigate to TV Shows, Films or Apps and select Update. Follow the on screen prompts to install and launch Live TV & Catchup.
5. Requirements
For YouView to be made available to you, you need to meet certain requirements during setup:
- Language must be English
- Region must be UK
- Broadcast type must be one of the Digital options. YouView does not work with a Satellite signal. You’ll need to tune your channels with a Digital Aerial
