Using smart standby

A YouView Box FAQ

Offering you the best of both worlds. Fast start ups during the day and energy saving at night. For everything you need to know about Smart Standby read this page:

Smart Standby is our recommended standby option. It starts up your box quicker in the day and puts it into deep sleep at night (when you switch it off).

It helps improve overall responsiveness and lowers power consumption (compared to the other standby modes).

When your box goes into standby, it stays ready in the background for a short time before going into what we call ‘deep sleep’. This turns off a few things in the box and saves you energy.

When you turn your box on from deep sleep, it needs a little extra time to get everything ready for you.

In deep sleep, your box will use less power and will still wake up to record scheduled programmes and perform automatic software updates.
